No. The candidate can register on each of the DELF or DALF level without prior diploma which leads to it. (Arrêté Ministériel, Art. 5)
Usually, we organize a break in the session of about half an hour between the written test, and the oral exam.
As stated in its name, the DELF is a diploma. So, it is valid for life. The TCF, however, is a test given at a certain time, and is only valid for two years.
The B1 level a minima is required by the French government. To learn about the specific competences you need to have mastered to take this exam.
Yes! Candidates must request reasonable accommodation upon registration and provide all required documentation at least two months in advance for appropriate arrangements to be made.
It depends. Some universities, like McGill or University of Ottawa, for instance, recognize the DELF as an official diploma in French studies. We recommend that you contact the university you are targeting to know if they take this diploma in consideration.
How can I assess the DELF level that my child can take? Our teachers are trained to help the children practice the exam all year long in the classes. This diploma is part of our curriculum, and our lesson plans. Your child’s teacher will communicate his/her recommendation to you regarding the level that your child can take.
The B1 level is usually expected in state colleges, but prestigious universities (like the Sorbonne for instance) or graduate schools require the B2 level. C1 is a minimum voire doctoral candidates. We highly recommend that you check before applying in the targeted school.
